2/9: You Can't Miss This

Batman Icon's mutation

Love batman? Here's the history of batman icon.

I screenshot each stage just for the convenience

The changes are mostly minor changes in anchor points. Some have sharper wings than others. The basic shape stay the same.
Except the evolvement of logo. What interests me more is the co-change of the typos accompany the logos. What kind of typo best fit the logo. Some are playful, some are gothic, some are just serious. The 1983 one interestingly tailors the typo into the shape of the logo. The basic pattern we can see the the transmigration of 3 sets of typos.

Barcode revolution
Are you tired of monotonous barcode everywhere like I do? Then you should definitely check out this Japanese barcode design website. Though the price they charge for each barcode design is around $1500, what matters is the creative idea behind.

To be frank the illustration is quite rough to some extent. But they do have some interesting ideas.

Guess if they could have emphasize more on the execution process. They would be more successful.

  1. Those barcodes are AWESOME. How fun is it to make a piece of art from the same boring barcodes stuck on almost everything. I would love to see those on products.

  2. That was really cool to see the evolution of the batman logo. That gave me a lot of ideas for the 20/10 assignment. I think each of those logos are pretty unique, yet they obviously stick to the same concept. Thanks for taking the time to screen shot them all for comparison.

  3. Love the Batman logo montage. Fantastic. The animation was great, and I think you made some great points about the minute manipulations that occurred throughout the years. I think both the bat signals and the type faces for the logos set a very different tone for each rendition.

  4. The batman logo evolution is fascinating! It's great to see how many subtle ways an icon can look as we're getting ready for the 20/10 assignment.

  5. The barcodes are so fun! Expensive, but fun. It's funny when we did our prototypes, Jan was saying how ugly the barcodes are and how designers hate them, but these might be fun. If not fun, less ugly and intrusive than standard bar codes.
